The Nubra means “Ldumra”(The valley of flower).It is situated in the north of ladakh region over khardung la (5602m), the world’s highest motorable pass. .The average altitude of valley is about the sea level is about 10,000ft ,above the sea level.It is largely drained by Siachan and Shayok River.The flat part of the river is sandy and occupied by green and myricaria.The villages look pretty with greenery,willow and poplar trees.A typical Nubra tour takes Diskit and Hundar in the Shyok valley and Sumur,Tegar and Panamik in the valley of Nubra river.you have to need the permit .You need a minimum of two/three days to tour .It is located about 150km away from Leh.
Day 01: leh via Khardong la to Hunder
Khardung La pass, at an elevation of 5602m above sea level, is the world’s highest motorable road connecting Leh to the Nubra valley. Its location is militarily strategic because it is close to the border with Pakistan and the Siachen glacier. On the way, you will see Himalayan marmots and grazing yaks.
Disket Monastery
Disket Monastry is the largest and oldest monastery in the Nubra valley. It was founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo during the 14th century, a disciple of Tsong Khapa, founder of the Gelugpa order. The impressive statue of Maitreya Buddha that stands at a height of 32m was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama in 2010.you can visit a huge Mitrya Buddha out side of the monastery.
Hunder
Hunder is located 10 km from Diskit and is the high altitude cold desert . The sand dunes surrounded by snowcapped rocky mountains are a perfect blend of serenity and wilderness. This desert is home to Bactrian camels, a reminder of the past when Hunder was a stopping-point along the Silk Road. A camel ride in this amazing landscape is an unforgettable experience.
Day 02:-Samstanling Monastry in Summur to back to leh
Samstan ling monastry is very famous and beautiful .It is the second largest monastery in the Nubra valley. It was built in the mid-19th century by Lama Tsultim Nima. The old and new prayer halls are intricately decorated with murals and paintings. Theere are more the 70 monks.
Panamik Hot Spring water
Panamik village is near the village of Summur and also situated close to the Siachen glacier, is known for its hot sulphur springs that are believed to have medicinal benefits.Many tourist are going to there.
